Educators in Lenawee County have developed authentic assessment tasks to address each of the 38 middle school benchmarks in educational technology. These tasks provide an exemplar tool for teachers to measure student progress against the benchmarks. Rubrics can be used to measure a student's technology proficiency through an authentic task, and are generic enough, in most cases, to be used in any content area in which technology is being integrated into the classroom curriculum. Each assessment task takes the form of an extended written response, a performance, or a personal communication, allowing the student to demonstrate deeper understanding of the content. A link to the latest draft document (PDF), 8th Grade Educational Technology Performance-Based Assessment Tasks & Rubrics, is available through Lenawee Intermediate School District, educational technology web page, at http://www.lisd.us/edtech.
<ins class="insert">The REMC Instructional Technology Specialists have created an assessment bank of questions for schools to use the spring of 2008. There are two test banks that have been created so that schools can pre and post test if they choose. The questions are available in Word, RTF, Blackboard, and ExamView format. To obtain a copy of the questions for use in your district, contact your local REMC.
