The Michigan Department of Education Technology Planning Site was created to assist local school districts in the development of their technology plans. This is a comprehensive resource including sample technology plans, submission guidelines, and other supporting resources.

Submitting an approved Technology Plan is a requirement for any district applying for Universal Service Funds (USF). The Michigan Department of Education requires that all new Technology Plans be submitted online via the Michigan Electronic Grants System (MEGS).

Technology Plans includes strategies that describe how the technology will be integrated into the curriculum as well as how the technology will be supported. The following section headings from the Educational Technology Plan Approval Checklist (pdf) document outline the state of Michigan's requirements:
  • Curriculum
  • Professional Development
  • Infrastructure, Hardware, Technical Support, and Software
  • Funding and Budget
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
