Michigan ResourcesThere are many organizations and projects from around the state of Michigan designed to assist educators in integrating technology.Curriculum Integration Lessons The Michigan Department of Education (MDE), using funding from a federal grant, brought Michigan educators together three different summers to write lessons that integrate technology into the content areas. The links below connect to the lessons from each year’s work as well as a wealth of other information. Curriculum Integration Lessons 2005 – Grades K–12 Curriculum Integration Lessons 2006 - Grades K–12 Curriculum Integration Lessons 2007 – Grades 9-12 The Best Practices of Technology Integration This site is sponsored by the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, the REMC Association of Michigan and the Berrien County Intermediate School district. The lesson plans have been written by practicing teachers and have been "kid tested" to work in the classroom. All of these lessons have been aligned with the Michigan Framework Document. The Michigan eLibrary The Michigan eLibrary (MeL) is Michigan’s virtual library. This service of the Library of Michigan, developed with the participation of Michigan libraries, is designed to offer every library and resident of the state equitable and easy-to-use access to a core set of information resources. Contained within the pages of MeL is a specific section called Michigan Educator Resources. Within these resources are links to Educational Technology with 11 Classifications and Technology Instruction with 22 Classifications. These resources have all been evaluated by Media Specialists and other Michigan educators. Classroom Resources The Berrien County ISD maintains a Classroom Resources page which contains relevant web sites and information broken down by subject areas and other topics. Other ResourcesBesides those with Michigan origins, there are numerous sites that are great places to find resources, lesson plans, and integration ideas. A few good places to begin are listed here.Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators Kathy Schrock, longtime Media Specialist who currently works as Administrator for Technology for the Nauset Public Schools on Cape Cod, MA has been an avid user of the Internet since 1993. Her Guide for Educators contains a categorized list of sites useful for enhancing curriculum and professional growth. It is updated often to include the best sites for teaching and learning. 4Teachers and ALTEC Resources 4Teachers and ALTEC host Teacher Tacklebox, resources for integrating technology into the classroom organized by subject areas; Rubistar, an online rubric maker; 4Kids.org, a weekly publication that focuses on websites for students; Notestar, an Internet utility that allows the user to take notes online; and several other tools and resources helpful to both teachers and administrators. TechTeachers' Digital Filing Cabinet The TechTeachers' Digital Filing Cabinet is provided courtesy of Meg Ormiston, a former classroom teacher now working as a consultant and keynote speaker. Her site features links and and resources from all content areas as well as technology integration guides and policy examples. T4 Jordan School District T4 Jordan School District in Utah uses the motto, “Transforming Teaching Through Technology.” They have an extensive website on “Technology Integration.” <http://t4.jordan.k12.ut.us/t4/content/section/8/37/> Categories on this website include templates, online projects, online resources, teaching ideas, teaching research and more. Blue Web’n Blue Web'n contains an online library of 2137 Internet sites categorized by subject, grade level, and format (tools, references, lessons, hotlists, resources, tutorials, activities, projects). Each month 5-10 new sites are added. Community Learning Network The Community Learning Network was designed to help K-12 teachers integrate technology into the classroom. There are over 5,800 annotated links to educational sites with free resources, all organized by theme pages and keyword search. |
